A major cash crop in the Bighorn Basin of Wyoming (WY) and Yellowstone River valley eastern Montana (MT) is Sugarbeet (Beta vulgaris L.). This growing area characterized by alkaline/calcareous soil conditions that inhibit phosphorus (P) availability. Phosphorus, however, reported to increase root growth sugarbeet. study evaluated effects two P fertilizer sources rates on sugarbeet productivity Sidney, MT Powell, WY. The were liquid ammonium polyphosphate (APP) dry monoammonium phosphate (MAP) applied with or without a availability enhancer (Avail®). fifth treatment consisting APP + Avail® starter was tested. banded at 5 cm beside below seeds, seed-placed MAP broadcast-incorporated 5-cm depth.
